Seeking God’s Face

As I was preparing for our upcoming newsletter, my heart was heavily burdened for our nation and the upcoming election.  We as a nation stand at a crossroads.  The question becomes will we choose to heed to the values of God, our Lord and Savior, or will we be influenced by culture?

There are three key values at jeopardy:  the issues of life, marriage and freedom for which we as the Church need to stand firmly and not be swayed.  These values are not to be dictated by government but to be recognized that they were already defined by God, the Creator.

Our founding Fathers sought God when writing The Constitution of the United States.  They beheld the values of life, marriage and freedom.  Daniel Webster is quoted “It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions…There are men, in all ages…who mean to govern well; but they mean to govern.  They promise to be kind masters; but they mean to be masters…. They think there need be but little restraint upon themselves…. The love of power may sink too deep in their own hearts….”  Has this happened in America?   Are there some who are in power that are being driven by their love for power or by their love for God, the Creator?

As I was seeking God over this matter, this verse came to mind.
2 Chronicles 7:14if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Humbling ourselves places us in a position that not only recognizes God for Who He is, but also reveres Him as the Almighty.  We, the Church can no longer be politically correct.  God, who is King over all, has already decreed through His Word, the laws He desires for us to follow.  We can no longer allow compromise to deter us from what God has ordained.

Secondly, we as His Church need to pray and seek the face of God during this time.  We need to understand what God says in His Word about life, marriage and freedom.  Either, His Word is true or it is not.  Once He reveals His truth to our hearts, we would be wise to turn from our disruptive paths and walk accordingly to His ways.  It is not only our responsibility to understand what the Word of God states, but it is also our duty to understand The Constitution of the United States.  We can no longer be lethargic to these matters, or compromise their clear intent.

Is our nation is in need of healing?  Yes, but it cannot be healed without God.  So, I am asking you to join with me starting Monday, September 17th for 40 days to seek God through prayer and fasting.  The time has come to arise and be united.  I have to question, if we continue down our current path of destruction, will the freedom our founding fathers had instituted for us be existent?   The battle for freedom is not only a democracy issue but it is a Church issue.  If we as the Church, continue down this path of devastation, will the freedom our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ paid for with His life, be utterly disregarded?  My heart’s plea is that we would understand the great cost of life He has given us through His Cross.  As followers of Him, He has informed each of us that we will each have to carry our own cross for His name sake.  If He is truly Lord over our lives, we do not get the right to tell Him no; we must walk in obedience to His ways and truth.

So, please join me in the Arise for Freedom starting on Monday, September 17th seeking the face of God in His truths.  I believe God can move mightily among this nation and His Church, but we must first do our part.  Will you join me?
