“Hear my words, you wise men; listen to me, you men of learning. – Job 34:2
This woman humor e-mail is providing great material. Here is another one of them….While attending a marriage seminar dealing with communication, a man and his wife listened to the instructor, ‘It is essential that husbands and wives communicate to learn each other’s likes and dislikes.’ He addressed the man, ‘Can you name your wife’s favorite flower?’ The husband leaned over, touched his wife’s arm gently and whispered, ‘It’s Pillsbury, isn’t it?’ Funny. Right. Melissa has been reading The 5 Love Languages, and sharing key elements of the book with me. I am finding out just how important communication is to her and all women (it’s only taken me 60 years to discover this). But since years do impose a certain amount of wisdom on a man, I’m slowly learning (and sometimes painfully) about this communication thing. It does have its challenges, because Melissa is a very detailed person (oh sooo detailed) and I am a ‘give it to me in ten words or less’ person. All kidding aside, together we’ve learned to communicate and to learn each others love languages, likes and dislikes. But most importantly, we’ve learned the importance of worshiping and serving together with Jesus – the ultimate communicator.
Jesus speaks the ultimate love language – we just need to listen and obey.
Dear Almighty God of mercy, love and grace, help us to hear Your voice as we continue to learn and communicate. Help us so that everything that we think, say and do will be worthy of You. Help us to remember Lord, that You are our shield, our strength, our portion, our deliverer, our shelter, our strong tower, our very present help in time of need. Help us to live our lives today for Your glory as a spiritual act of worship. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
I will hear, listen and communicate today and every day.
